Dangerous (poem)

It’s hard to pretend I don’t care
With you looking at me like that.
And when I just ask you to leave,
You smile your best smile instead.

It’s not like I want you away.
It’s just that beside you,
With no one around us,
It feels like I need you to stay.

It’s not that I don’t like you near
And don’t like your arms pulling closer
But sooner or later, I know it,
I’ll ask you to stay and you’ll leave.

So let go when there’s time.
I’m done with the poem, I think I’ll survive.
